Chisinau is world second city in number of Romanians, after Bucharest, capital of Romania.
The word Chisinau means new spring in old Romanian language, as the city was built around small spring. The spring is now located at the corner of Pushkin and Albisoara Streets.
The city population grow from 7 000 in 1800's to 92 000 in 1862, as the character changed from village to centre of Bessarabia region of Imperial Russia.
